So I cannot help but to be a little obsessed with a comedian that came into my knowing about a year ago. Louis CK is a no-nonsense or reservations comedian from Boston. He has been around for quite some time, even having his own HBO sitcom series (that I have never seen). His latest standup special, All Chewed Up, had me laughing to the point of tears. Unlike many of the mainstream comedians out there today, Louis CK is gimmick free and is a straight shooter. He reminds me of a more developed Bill Hicks, cynicism seeps from his every word (in a good way).
Below I posted a short skit produced by Louis CK on 'Catholic Boy Fucking', enjoy!

Doom, Death and Donuts
Recently there has been a reemergence of doom influence death metal bands coming out of Europe and US alike. More specifically, Finland has been spewing out quite a few of these bands. Most of them take their influence from the Dutch and Swedish bands of the early 90's such as Entombed, Asphyx and Cemetary.
To my surprise, most of these bands that I have found a home on a record label that I have neglected since the release of Ghoul's Splatterthrash, Razordback Records. These releases are some of the most solid pieces of doom and death metal I have heard in quite sometime. Most doom metal bands now fall in the realm of hipsterdom, untrenched in a pretentious muck of SunnO))), Boris and Electric Wizard worship.
Granted, I do have a place in my heart for the obscenely slow and driving sludge/stoner doom metal sub-genre, but there has been something missing for so very long...a sense of humor. When a band takes themselves too seriously at all times something about the integrity of the band tends to take a beating.
Just imagine if Demilich, Asphyx and Candlemass started beating the shit out of each other inside a midnight marathon of B-Horror and snuff films...gorey, stripped down, and extremely enjoyable.
Lurking in the toxic waste soaked cemetary sewers is a list of bands that stick to the guns of the typical lyrical themes of those who call Razorback Records home. These are some of the bands/albums that have been churning out gutteral groovy gooey goodness and are worth your listen:
Crypticus - They Called Me Mad!

Acid Witch - Witchtanic Hellucinations

Vacant Coffin - Sewer Skullputure

Hooded Menace - Fulfill the Curse

Revolting - Dreadful Pleasures

My full salutes to Razorback Records for recruiting all these great bands!
